Big News! King's Quest could be coming to the iPhone iPad and iPod Touch!
TellTale games, a company that believes the future in games is digital downloads and has brought many titles to the iOS has announced that they have acquired the rights to do a reboot of King's Quest and to bring Hector: Badge of Carnage to the PC, iPad and Mac. The Hector news is old news, but in this interview they reveal more about their plans to reboot King's Quest but they didn't reveal which platforms. Telltale has released games like Tales of Monkey Island on the iPad, but not the iPhone or iPod Touch, probably because iPad apps are usually more expensive making it easier for Telltale to make a profile. But I think Telltale would be wise to also release it for the iPhone and iPod Touch. They should follow Revolution Software's example and make just one app that works as the iPhone/ iPod Touch app but is also the HD app for the iPad, and charge iPad prices. People would be willing to pay $5 or $6, maybe $7 for a really good remake of King's Quest, complete with support for the Retina display as Revolution software has proven with the Broken Sword games. $8, what LucasArts wanted for Monkey Island 2 originally, was probably a little too much. Telltale could start off with a $5 or $6 King's Quest, and then make the second game $7, following Revolution's strategy. So if Telltale ends up doing this, you'll know that they MUST be reading my blog! I'll bet Telltale decided to get the rights to make King's Quest from Activision after reading earlier news and opinion piece on why they need to bring Sierra On-Line adventure games to the iPhone! If not, I'll settle for being on the same wavelength.
